Given the considerations to stem the spread of COVID-19, physical course reserves will not be available for the Fall 2020-Spring 2021 semesters.
Instead, all Course Reserves items are available online through Canvas course pages or through OneSearch.
Please don’t hesitate to ask questions you have about Course Reserves! Contact us by email at email@example.com or by phone at (713) 348-4021.
To access Course Reserves items, login to your student account in Canvas, select a class, and click on Resource List. This will bring up the class’s required and suggested books, articles, videos, sound recordings, and other resources.
To access items through Fondren Library OneSearch, first access the Advanced Search. Then select “Course Reserves” above the search box. Use the Any Field dropdown menu to search for a class by instructor, course number or course name. OneSearch will list all available resources and where they are located.
The catalog will display all Course Reserve items that are available through the Fondren Library catalog. It will not include instructor added pdfs, Youtube videos, or any other items that are not normally in the catalog.
For that reason, make sure to check your course in Canvas too!

Physical course reserves will not be available for the fall 2020 semester.
For any Fondren scanning requests or assistance with procuring online items, the submission/request deadline is August 14th, 2020 in order for those items to be ready by the first day of fall classes. Of course you can add more items as the semester progresses.
There are limitations on digitizing items for reserve due to copyright law. For more information visit the Copyright and Fair Use LibGuide (https://libguides.rice.edu/c.php?g=45195&p=287353)
For books, please limit your digitization request to a modest portion of the book (i.e. 1-2 chapters). Less than ten percent of the book is a good target.
In some cases we can purchase an ebook which would allow full access to students. Please let us know if you wish us to check for an ebook version.
If you wish us to scan from your personal copy of a book, please mail or bring it to the Fonden Library Circulation desk and let us know exactly what you need.
You can build your course reading lists in Canvas using Fondren’s OneSearch tool with direct links to library full text holdings. To learn more about the new Resource List tool in Canvas, access the Leganto in Canvas tutorial. Leganto is a powerful course reserves system that is new through Fondren this year. It will greatly facilitate having online reserves material.
