Decoding the Black Box: Understanding the Hidden Rules Behind Search, Feeds, and AI

In an era where AI and recommendation engines actively filter what we see, read, and decide, understanding algorithmic logic is no longer just for developers—it’s an essential professional skill for almost every career path.

In this interactive workshop, you’ll decode the hidden systems shaping your searches, feeds, and AI responses, uncovering what digital platforms optimize for beyond surface-level accuracy. You’ll learn to spot hidden ranking biases, distinguish algorithmic curation from generative AI, and evaluate digital platforms with sharper judgment. You don't need a technical background to build this mindset: it’s about learning to read what technology is doing behind the scenes so you can navigate, leverage, and lead in an AI-driven workplace.

Note: This workshop is offered twice this Fall semester.

  • Session 1: In-person
  • Session 2: Online via Zoom (A meeting link will be emailed to all registered participants prior to the workshop)
