Ethical Generative AI Use for Researchers

This course provides an overview on ethical considerations for incorporating generative AI tools in academic work. Topics covered include copyright, data privacy and FERPA, algorithmic bias and limitations of generative AI tools, environmental concerns, and practical tips for how to make the tool use meaningful for your work. There will a demonstration of tools currently provided to the Rice community by Fondren and campus IT, such as Gemini Notebook and Consensus.
